The mass air flow meter measures the mass of the air flow at the vehicle's air intake. It measures the volume of air and adapts the operation of the engine according to its needs. The information provided to the calculator allows you to optimise the correct air fuel mix in the engine. It allows you to control the throttle and turbo and exhaust gas reinjection phases. The causes of a flow meter failure are multiple - internal short circuit, power interruption, mechanical damage, sensor clogged due to air impurities and a contaminated flow meter sensor. To find out if the flow meter is failing, here are some symptoms to detect: - Engine light on - Black smoke - Decrease in performance - Increased fuel consumption - Risk of engine deterioration, catalytic converter - Gradient mode
