Description

Description A very productive Dwarf French bush bean variety with green pods. The pods are about 4-5" long and the seeds are white when fully developed. High yielding compact plant that doesn't needs staking. Beans are well-known super-food and can be cooked in many different ways, including boiling, frying, and baking, and are used in many traditional dishes throughout the world. Sow Indoors: March – April Transplant: May – June Sow Outdoors: May – June Spacing: 15" between rows/ 6" between plants Harvest: July – October Soil - Well-drained and rich in organic matter. A soil pH of 6.0 to 6.8 is ideal Position - Sunny, sheltered spot Sow and Grow Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Moisten good quality compost and add into small pots or modules. Sow the seeds 2" deep and 2" apart, cover them with a thin layer of soil and water lightly. Place them in a greenhouse, polytunnel or cold frame to germinate. A temperature of 15-20°C is ideal for germination, which should take 7-14 days. After all chances of frost have passed, harden off the young plants, and they are ready to be transplanted in their final position. They prefer light, fertile, moisture-retentive soil. Choose a warm sheltered spot. Alternatively sow directly in the garden when outside temperature reaches at least 12°C. Put cloches in place two weeks before sowing to warm up the ground. Make a trench about 2" deep and sow seeds 6" apart. Rake the soil back over lightly to cover the beans completely. Care and Harvest Keep plants well watered and weeds under control during dry periods to promote rapid, uninterrupted growth. Regular picking will encourage more pod formation and produce a bigger crop. Always pick young and tender pods, when they are about 4" long. Height and Spread The plant grows to a height of 16" and spreads to 12". Safety Warning Once opened store in airtight container, in a dry, dark place with consistently cool temperatures
