Regolata da chiari principi volti alla massima efficacia, questa antica Arte Marziale viene qui riportata alla luce mediante anni di studio, comparazioni e sperimentazione pratica. L’opera copre gli autori della Scuola Bolognese nell’arco temporale dei primi 70 anni del ‘500 italiano. In questo periodo, grazie all’Anonimo Bolognese (proponendo per la prima volta in forma integrale la parte giunta fino a noi che riguarda la spada a due mani), si assiste ad una prima trasformazione di questa disciplina, ancora regolata da connotazioni marcatamente medievali, che raggiunge l’apice e il massimo splendore nel Rinascimento italiano ed europeo attraverso la trattazione di Achille Marozzo. L’opera prosegue con la parte dedicata a Giacomo Di Grassi, ultimo autore di questa importante scuola italiana, a trattare della spada a due mani. Contiene inoltre la parte dedicata al maneggio contro armi in asta, descritto dall’Anonimo Bolognese e da Achille Marozzo.
