Qui ne se souvient pas de la Matra-Simca Bagheera, cette sportive révolutionnaire quia fait chavirer les coeurs dans les années 1970 ? Qui connaît la Talbot-Matra Murena qui lui a succédé en 1980 ? Elle a bonifié la Bagheera, mais a subi les affres d'un réseau de distribution en déliquescence et n'a pu s'imposer, alors que la vague des GTI menaçait les coupés sportifs. Pourtant, les connaisseurs savent à quel point cette Murena avait du talent et que son potentiel aurait pu être développé judicieusement. S'il l'a été en compétition (deux titres de champion de France de rallycross), il a été freiné par son partenaire commercial, le groupe PSA, alors en pleine mutation.
