Sliabh Liag Distillers have taken a bold step with The Legendary Dark Silkie in reintroducing consumers to rich, smoky, peated Irish whiskey. Inspired by Donegal whiskeys of days gone by, they have sourced the finest double distilled single malts and triple distilled peated single malts with soft grain whiskey. Irish peat is used, which is heather based rather than forest based, meaning it's sweeter and less oakey than Scottish peat. Nose: Fresh apple and pear with spiced dry smoke and welcoming virgin oak Taste: The Dark Silkie's signature softness develops to a rich salted caramel sweetness. Waves of sweet pipe tobacco, liquorice and dark chocolate give way to warm toffee and pear. Finish: Warming elegant finish of malty smoke and peanut butter. TASTING NOTES: On the nose, fresh apple, pipe tobacco and the comforting dry smoke of a peat fire. The finish is warming with smoky malt, peanut butter and melts away

SUPER SOFT: To taste, the whiskey is super soft with a salted-caramel sweetness, dark chocolate and liquorice, oak, leather and a dry spicy smoke

TRIPLE DISTILLED PEATED SINGLE MALT: Matured in sherry casks, this single malt is peated to 55ppm (parts per million) which after the triple distillation results in a phenol level around 22ppm giving a rich sweet smoky flavour

HERITAGE OF DONEGAL: Rooted in the legends of Donegal, our spirits reflect the long distilling heritage of the Sliabh Liag peninsula, with liquids of the highest quality that capture the essence of this wild coastal land and its people
