As a real pioneer brand, Kartell calls out the green revolution and presents the first piece of furniture made from Bio-On bioplastic, a 100% natural and biodegradable material. This bioplastic consists of renewable raw materials (vegetable waste), which form a plastic-like material by admixture of micro-organisms. Bioplastic offers the same thermomechanical properties as conventional plastic and also has the advantage of being completely environmentally friendly and completely and naturally biodegradable. Many years of research are in this highly developed bioplastic based on the new ecological chemistry. The Kartell brand has used this bioplastic for the first time to reinterpret a design icon of its catalogue: the Componibili. In 1968, designer Anna Castelli Ferreri, wife of the founder of Kartell, designs the famous furniture Componibili. The Componibili has proven itself for over half a century and has become a real design classic over the decades. It has received numerous awards and is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The compact, versatile Componibili fits in any room, on the floor or on any other furniture. It can be used in various functions: as a bedside table in the bedroom, as a side table in the living room, as a small storage furniture in the bathroom or in the kitchen, if necessary also as a squat. It is even suitable for outdoor use.
