When sewing clothing, a dressmaker may test the fit of a garment, using an inexpensive muslin fabric before cutting the intended expensive fabric, thereby avoiding potential costly mistakes. The muslin garment is often called a "muslin", and the process is called "making a muslin". With the availability of inexpensive synthetic fabrics, which closely resemble the hand (drape and feel) of expensive natural fabrics, a test or fitting garment made of synthetics may still be referred to as a muslin, because the word has become the generic term for a test or fitting garment. Natural unbleached muslin is a medium weight natural cotton fabric that is 100% cotton and 63" wide. This fabric has a smooth finish, with a soft touch. It also has a natural light drape and stiffness, thanks to its cotton content. This fabric can also be machine washed and dried, but as always we highly recommend washing it in low settings, or hand washing and air drying fabrics in order to best retain its quality. This fabric is great for curtains, apparel, aprons, sheets, quilting, and other crafts projects. It has a luxuriously rich feeling. Whether you're using this for pattern making or wall covers, this muslin will meet all your needs. Muslin is used to make patterns and templates for apparel, upholstery and other jobs. It is an affordable fabric that is available in a generous width to accommodate projects . A must for Draping and Fittings"
