Product Description The ultraviolet radiation is not visible to the human eye, but can lead to undesirable optical effects in photography: On the one hand, the UV component, also known as Raleigh radiation, causes a strong blue coloration in natural scattered light, which is often only fully noticeable afterwards — on the other hand, the chromatic aberration of high UV light components results in blurring in the image. In order to effectively prevent these adverse effects, special UV blocking filters are also often used nowadays. But UV filters — and especially the very robust Rollei Extremium round filters UV — have another task: Since they only minimally impair transmitted light and barely darken it, they simply remain on the lens as an additional protection. High-quality and valuable lenses usually require time-consuming and costly repairs if the front lens has been damaged. The Rollei Extremium filters are made of extremely resistant gorilla glass and an almost indestructible filter ring made of titanium. An extensive bath in a special hot liquid ensures effective ion exchange at the molecular level in Gorilla Glass — and a greatly increased surface tension that withstands sharp and sharp objects and prevents further material chipping even with deeper scratches.
