In April of 1961, producer Bob Thiele had the brilliant idea of teaming up two of the greatest jazz stars of all time in the same studio: Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. The sessions resulted in the amazing album Together for the First Time (Roulette SR52074). As a bonus, we have added the complete original soundtrack for the movie Paris Blues, which featured Armstrong and the Ellington orchestra, as well as Armstrong s original readings of two Ellington tunes, which he had recorded with a large orchestra in 1957.
