Each player takes on one of the eight major factions wrestling for influence and control over the Iron Throne of Westeros. Each player controls a deck consisting of two stacks: a draw pile containing the faction's forces and a special strategy stack to plan longer-term intrigue. Throughout the game, players compete in military operations, intrigue games and power struggles until a player emerges victorious. As with any Living Card Game, new cards regularly appear with which you can customise the contents of the basic game or design your own, individual decks.
