Combining Hakuichi's brilliant skills in gold leaf production with exquisite brilliance and three-dimensional designs, and the Platinum fountain pen manufacturer with more than 90 years of experience in manufacturing fountain pens, through trial and error and the use of materials such as refined gold leaf, a series of fountain pens featuring fascinating Japan's beautiful four seasons was made. Unlike gold leaf used in artwork, it is difficult to put gold foil on durable items with curved surfaces such as writing instruments, as they must withstand all wear and tear due to handling, writing and storage. Only with the deep experience of both companies and their mutual sharing of technical information could they achieve the technology necessary to surface sustainable decorations. The foil itself requires an eight-step manufacturing process, and the 0.1μm thick gold foil is easily damaged by light breezes or static electricity, and the whole process of putting this thin gold foil on a fountain pen and additionally making it durable is finally completed after about a year and a half since conceptualization.
