Product Description

Product description Dosage: The required amount of barley straw is worked out on the surface area of your pond. An initial dose of between 25g and 50g per m2*. 4-6 months later this should be replaced with 10-25g per m2*. Although the barley straw is safe for use with aquatic life, excessive amounts may lead to deoxygenation. It is recommended not to exceed 500g/m2 *More straw may be required if the water is muddy, than in clean waters. When to use: Although the straw can be applied any time of year, it is best to add the nets of straw to your pond very early in the spring, prior to any algae or blanket weed being visible. How it works: As barley straw decomposes, natural chemicals are released which inhibit the growth of algae. It can take 6-8 weeks to notice any results from the straw, however once the straw begins to decompose, it will remain active until it has almost completely decomposed. Directions 1. Calculate the required amount of barley straw based on pond surface area: Initial dose - 25g to 50g per m2, Follow-up 10g m2. 2. Add nets early in spring before algae or blanket weed appears. 3. It takes 6-8 weeks for results appear after decomposition starts. 4. Replace every 4-6 months. 5. Do not exceed 500g/m2. 6. More may be needed muddy water than clean water. 7. Barley is safe aquatic life but excessive amounts can cause deoxygenation.
