LOCTITE SI 5910 - Silicone adhesive for surface sealing LOCTITE's silicone adhesive is suitable for surface sealing of flexible flanges with machined surfaces or cast flanges. As a strong glue adhesive, it can be used as a metal adhesive as well as for plastics. The silicone can be used particularly where high resistance to oil and relative movement is required, e.g. for stamped sheet metal parts such as housing covers or oil pans. The surface seal has low strength and is suitable for gaps of up to 1 mm. Within 24 hours, curing of 2.75 mm is achieved. For clean gaskets, the silicone has thixotropic properties and does not migrate from the parts after application. For wide applicability, the silicone is black. The bonding surfaces should be clean and free of grease. Moisture curing begins as soon as the silicone is exposed to humidity. Therefore, the parts should be joined within a few minutes after application. Allow the bond to cure completely (7 days) before full use. Excess material can easily be wiped off with non-polar solvents. A volumetric dispensing system is recommended for automatic application.
