The USB hub expends one USB 3.0 port into additional seven ports. Thanks to the transfer rates of up to 5 Gbit / second, this USB hub can be used in many cases. USB 3.0 is downwards compatible therefore even older USB 2.0 devices can be used (but in the according transfer rates).
