Er war in der Lage einen ganz eigenen Sound zu kreieren; einen Sound, der nicht kopiert war, sondern in die internationale Jazzschule gegangen war und gelernt hatte und Eigenständigkeit ausbildete und dann überzeugend eine eigene, eine Örsted Pedersen-Klangwelt bot.Wie Mingus leitete auch auch Örsted-Pedersen seine Trios und Quartete vom Bass aus, komponierte und arrangierte und konnte in seinen Projekten eine internationale Musikerelite an seiner Seite vereinen. Auf "Dancing On The Tables" hören wir Hausdrummer Billy Hart, der auch im Triokontext mit Örsted Pedersen arbeitete. David Liebman, Sideman bei Miles Davis in Den Siebzigern bedient die Kannen, Tenor- und Sopransax sowie Altflöte. Und wir hören einen jungen Scofield an der Sechsaitigen. Jung zwar, aber bereits mit allen musikalischen Wassern gewaschen. Die Band harmoniert klasse, man hatte offensichtlich keine Probleme, sich stilistisch zu einigen und sich im Song zu begegnen und gegenseitig zu beflügeln.
