The Shadowfire 365 tenkara rod is a great choice for water where the fish are mostly under 18 inches. The Shadowfire can handle larger fish than 18 inches but it is designed for mid-sized fish. The soft casting action of this rod will help you cast more naturally and accurately. If you are using level line, you will want size #3 or #3.5 with this rod for best performance. We designed the handle to fit the hand more comfortably to reduce hand fatigue and to give you more casting control. You will most likely be pleased with the feel of this rod handle. The matte black color keeps the rod from reflecting the sun and possibly alerting the fish of your presence. Despite being matte black, this rod is very appealing to the eyes and has a quality finish. Although this rod is not necessarily designed as a big fish rod it can get the job done if you have room to move. We have landed a 23 inch rainbow with this rod, it helped that I was using a longer line when I caught it. You are going to love this rod.

CLASSIC TENKARA ROD The Shadowfire is 12' long and 2.9oz light. With a 6:4 action and 8 segments, this tenkara fly fishing rod gives lots of play, but is stronger enough to give an experienced angler a fighting chance against larger trout.

BACKPACKER FISHING FRIENDLY The Shadowfire Tenkara Rod collapses to 23.25", which makes it easy to simple to fit into your backpack for fishing the backcountry, or as a general purpose travel tenkara fly fishing rod.
