Key Features
DOLOMITE LIME - Provides valuable nutrients to plants and helps change the pH of the soil by raising it to match the plants' needs. It's sometimes called dolomitic lime or dolomitic limestone, and provides more nutrients than straight lime. It's often used in addition to balanced fertilizers, particularly with seeding fruit.
IDEAL FOR ROSES - Contains high natural magnesium (10-12%) which is a bonus to neutralising effect for which Dolomite Lime is usually used. It is ideal, therefore, for annual application to roses and exhibition beds, borders where the pH is too low. It is also excellent for preventing club root in brassicas.
HELPS CORRECT SOIL PH - When pH levels are too low, the basic nutrients most plants need remains locked up in the soil, unavailable to the plants growing in the space. Most garden plants prefer a pH range of 6.0 to 6.5. If your soil's pH is lower than that, dolomite may be the right garden amendment for your beds.
A GREAT SOURCE OF MAGNESIUM - Magnesium has an important role in photosynthesis because it forms the central atom of chlorophyll. Therefore, without sufficient amounts of magnesium, plants begin to degrade the chlorophyll in the old leaves. Dolomite Lime can be a fantastic source to replace lost magnesium in the soil.
CAUTION - The powdery and caustic nature of limestone makes it a potential irritant to skin and lungs. Wear protective gear, including a mask, when laying the material down. Research the soil needs of the plants you intend to raise in the garden. Some plants, including azaleas and blueberries, prefer acidic soil and won't perform well if you add dolomite to the bed.
