Filter adapter: useful tools in photography. Filter adapters allow you to use filters with a different diameter than that of the lens. The same applies to other accessories with a standard filter thread; e.g. converters or auxiliary lenses. The filter adapters are simply manufactured – mostly anodised aluminium, very thin and yet sturdy. Even in combination with retro adapters, a filter adapter can be used. For example, to combine a retro adapter with 58mm filter thread with a 52mm lens.
