V-Coil 4019 11mm x 1.5 Thread Repair Kit

V-Coil Thread Repair kit used to repair damaged or stripped threads and return the newly repaired thread back to the original size. This kit offers a complete thread repair solution. It includes the required drill, the V-Coil tap, an installation tool, a number of wire thread inserts and a tang break tool. All of the component parts are made to the highest levels of quality as you would expect from a leading German thread repair brand. The V-Coil tap is manufactured from High Speed Steel. It has been precision thread ground to ensure a quality finish for exceptional thread cutting. It is supplied as a 'finishing' tap which is comparable to a 'second' or 'intermediate' lead. The required drill that is included in this kit is also manufactured from High Speed Steel (HSS). The V-Coil wire thread inserts are manufactured to BS7752 standards. The inserts are manufactured from Aerospace Specification grade stainless steel: SAE AS7245. Supplied in 1.5D length, this is the most popular length of insert. The V-Coil inserts supplied in the kit are of the highest quality and should not be confused with some of the cheaper alternatives on the market. The grade of stainless steel used to manufacture the wire thread inserts is fully certified to aerospace specifications. V-Coil "Free Running" inserts are produced from precision profiled, high quality, chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel wire, wound into a helical spiral. When installed, the inserts provide strong permanent internal threads which resist heat and corrosion. Once installed, their position is maintained by the action of radial pressure between their coils and the flanks of the tapped hole. This pressure exists because their 'free' diameter is larger, by a calculated amount, than their 'installed' diameter. The installation tool and tang break tool are of solid construction and are covered with a soft plastic coating on the handles to offer additional comfort when being used. The quality of this V-Coil thread repair kit can be highlighted by the fact that a repaired thread using the V-Coil wire thread insert system is normally stronger than the original thread. This is due to the narrow and exact tolerances to which the tap and the wire inserts are manufactured to. The steps to follow when using this V-Coil kit are: 1) DRILLING - Clear the Damaged thread with the drill included in the kit. 2) CHECK - Check that the thread and pitch of the tap and of the bolt match. 3) TAPPING - Use the special V-Coil tap (included) for cutting the holding thread into the cleared hole. It is recommended to use a suitable cutting oil or lubricant. 4) INSTALL THE INSERT - Place the wire thread insert (included) on to the installation tool (included) so that the tang of the insert is positioned at the bottom of the tool. Position the adjustable ring of the installation tool so that the insert tang is centred in the tang slot. Wind the insert in with light downward pressure until a half turn below the surface. Don't work against the thread direction as the tang could break. 5) TANG REMOVAL - After finishing installing the insert, remove the installation tool by lifting it up and then use the tang break tool (included) to remove the tang.
