Description

The voltameter of Hofmann is used to determine the chemical composition of the water according to the volume. The apparatus is composed of three connected vertical glass pipes, between them in bottom. To end in excess of external hose taps are closed, while the inner cylinder is open in high, to allow for the addition of water through a tank. Electrodes In Gold Foils are external to the lower end of the tubes and connected to a low voltage DC power unit. The proportion of hydrogen and oxygen produced through electrolysis from water can be detected from the graduations on side tubes. Opening the taps in the upper part of the tubes, it is possible to obtain the purpose of gas analysis. Carbon Electrodes Are Also Available for analyse solutions where the use of gold is not indicated.
