This 10 CD box set features the complete Okeh, Columbia & RCA Victor Recordings from 1925-1933 of the incomparable Louis Armstrong (1901-1971). Included in this range of recordings are such iconic tracks and legendary favourites as "Muskrat Ramble", "Mahogany Hall Stomp", "Tiger Rag", "Basin Street Blues", "When It’s Sleepy Time Down South", "Stardust", "Lazy River", "You Made Me Love You", "I Got Rhythm" and "Georgia On My Mind", to name but a few. Armstrong’s influence on jazz and popular music in general has been profound, shifting the main focus from collective improvisation to solo performance. He is as well known for his charismatic stage presence as his cornet and trumpet playing as well as for his instantly recognisable deep, versatile voice, often heard singing scat. As Duke Ellington noted: "If anybody was a master, it was Louis Armstrong". This box set is part of a series heralding the giants of jazz. Other titles in the series feature Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus and Bessie Smith.
