Setting the interpupillary distance (PD)Since the distance between the two eyes (more precisely: the distance between the centres of the pupils) is different for different people, the two eyepieces of the binoculars must be set correctly. This is called "setting the pupillary distance". Hold the binoculars (with both hands) before your eyes and look through the binoculars at an object in the distance. Move the two halves of the binoculars on the joint until you see a clear image circle with both eyes.FocusingSince most people have different prescriptions in the left and right eye, the focusing system must be set. Follow these steps to adjust focus:1. Close your right eye and look through the left side of the binoculars with the left eye at the object. Rotate the centre focusing wheel until the image appears sharp. 2. Close your left eye and look through the right eyepiece (called the dioptre). Turn the right eyepiece until the image appears sharp. 3. Look with open eyes through both eyepieces. Since you have already set the right eyepiece, use only the centre focusing wheel to re-adjust the focus for a object at a different distance.Tip: If you normally wear glasses for near-sightedness, you should use the glasses when using binoculars. Otherwise, you will not achieve sharp focus in infinity range. However, if you wear glasses, put on the eyecups to maximize the field of view. When you are finished with the observation, fold the eyecups up to store the binoculars. Tripod connectionPorro prism binoculars feature an integrated tripod adapter port. These models have a threaded hole with cover. To attach the binoculars to a tripod adapter remove the cover and screw one end of the stand adapter into the threaded hole. The other end of the stand adapter is attached to a camera tripod.
