Once you have located the ceiling joist, place the ceiling mounting plate on the ceiling and screw in the (4) screws provided. Make sure the washers go onto the screws first, then drill the screws into the ceiling to securely attach the mounting plate. Figure 2 Next, attach the long rod to the short rod by twisting the steel tubes together until they are secure. Make sure the gray rubber slider is on the pole closest to the ceiling and that the rubber stopper is facing the floor. The bar length can be adjusted between 7'3½ and 9'3½. Therefore, measure your ceiling first to make sure the rod will fit. Figure 3 Raise the rod up to the ceiling mounting plate and place it in the coupling plate opening. Rotate the rod clockwise until it locks into the ceiling mounting plate. Now you can adjust the height of the pole using the built-in spring inside the extendable pole. Figure 4 Rotate the pole clockwise until the non-slip rubber stopper is firmly attached to the floor. With each clockwise rotation of the rod, the length of the rod increases, making it stronger and more stable with each rotation. When you can no longer twist the bar, the bar is ready for testing.
