This is especially true for landscape photography, where effects can be achieved that are very difficult or impossible to realize in post-processing. You can optimize the appearance of the cloud structure, increase colour saturation or reveal details under a water surface. Light is more or less polarized when reflected on a non-metallic surface. This also applies to the scattering of sunlight in the atmosphere. ZEISS T* POL filters allow light to pass through a polarisation plane and block the polarisation plane perpendicular to it. So you can darken the sky blue while white clouds are displayed brighter at the same time. You can also significantly reduce reflections on wet or shiny objects such as leaves. By reducing reflections on a water surface, pebbles or fish can be made visible in a river bed. The effect is strongest when the camera is oriented at approximately right angles to the incidence of light. You can control the effect by turning the filter in the socket. When used with SLR and digital system cameras, the effect is immediately visible in the viewfinder or on the monitor. Circular polarising filters can be used without restriction with SLR and digital cameras, unlike linear polarized filters as well as natural, non-polarized light is seen by the image sensor and from the exposure metering and autofocus systems.
