Description

This is a Tamiya 1:700 scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the Zuikaku Aircraft Carrier ("Lucky Crane"), a Shokaku class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Features: Kit has heavy waterline hull, multi-part superstructure island, 1-piece engraved flight deck, ship ships, filigree cranes and masts, and anti-aircraft batteries. Also includes aircraft: A6M2 Zero Fighters (x5), D3A 99 Type Aldive Bomber (x4) and B5N 97 Type Torpedo Bomber (x4). The finished model measures approx. 14.2 inches in length. Coloring guide for December 1941 outlines and stickers with flight deck markings, national aircraft badges and flags. *Synopsis: The Zuikaku was one of six carriers who attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Accompanied by its sister ship, the Shokaku ("lifting crane") of Carrier Division Five, under the command of Rear Admiral Hara, the Zuikaku launched two waves of air strikes against U.S. Navy installations and battleships at Pearl Harbor. The Zuikaku was sunk by the United States Navy dive bomber and torpedo bomber in the battle off Cape Engano on October 24, 1944.
