S/W This cult classic is based on the youth book trilogy (1918 - 1920) by Bohemian author Alois Theodor Sonnleitner and is eagerly awaited by many fans. The literature film tells the story of the orphans Eva and Peter who grow up hidden in the turmoil of war and on their own in a cave somewhere in the seclusion of the Dolomites. In 1962, director Peter Podehl filmed the novels for the WDR as a twelve-part TV series and transferred the original plot from the Thirty Years' War to the 2nd World War The series has a legendary status to this day and is considered one of the first children's series on German television ever.
