B + W 486 UV/IR blocking filter The B + W 486 UV-IR barrier filter has a steep-edge absorption against unwanted UV and infra red components. In the case of digital cameras whose IR blocks have a residual transmission in front of the image sensor, they prevent colour smudges and blur. This is not caused by absorption by means of glass staining, but by interference, a multiplicity of ultra-thin partial reflective layers of exactly calculated thickness. The B + W 486 UV/IR Blocking Filter is clear / colourless and requires no exposure factor. It can also be permanently left on the lens as a protective filter.
