Other B + W special filters, in turn, prevent this radiation, which disturbs the image impression in certain situations to pass through the lens to the sensor. B + W 486 UV/IR blocking filter The B + W 486 UV-IR barrier filter has a steep-edge absorption against unwanted UV and infra red components. In the case of digital cameras whose IR blocks have a residual transmission in front of the image sensor, they prevent colour smudges and blur. This is not caused by absorption by means of glass staining, but by interference, a multiplicity of ultra-thin partial reflective layers of exactly calculated thickness. The B + W 486 UV/IR Blocking Filter is clear / colourless and requires no exposure factor. It can also be permanently left on the lens as a protective filter. The B + W 486 UV / IR blocking filter is MRC-coated. Only lets daylight through. Specially designed for digital and video cameras. Colourless. No lengthening factor. Also suitable for use as a protective filter. Made in Germany. B + W MRC = Multi Resistant Coating : Number of Layers: 16, each side 7 + 1 layer. Reflective: <5%. Transmission: <99.5%. Instead of the usual 4% reflection losses on the glass surface, the MC layer reduces this value to an average significantly below 0.5%. This allows more brilliant colours and higher contrast. The last outermost layer, for which the R = Resistant in the name B + W MRC, serves a different purpose. It provides the dirt and water-repellent surface of the B + W MRC coating.
