Description

In 1982, Sony gave us the 'perfect sound at all times', together with the setting, 'all CD players sound the same, because digital is digital'. This has been refuted and quality differences between CD players accepted as fact. Next came separate transport and DAC combos under the premise 'all digital S/PDIF audio cables sound the same' … until this too was refuted. Now the border has shifted again. Is digital audio really only one and zero? We don't believe that, and once you've had the opportunity to hear the Forest USB, then you won't believe it anymore. Semi solid 0.5% silver conductor. Semi-solid conductors prevent distortion caused by interaction of the strands and reduce jitter. Solid silver plated conductors are ideal for high frequency digital audio and video applications. These high-frequency signals move almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor during transmission. As this is made of high-purity silver, the reproduction is very close to that of a solid silver cable, while the price is closer to that of a solid copper cable. This is a surprisingly cost-effective method of producing very high quality digital cables. Resin foam insulation. Hard cell foam (HCF) maintains critical conductor geometry. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor becomes part of an incomplete electrical network. Cable insulation and the material of the circuit boards absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Hard cell foam insulation is similar to the PE foam used in the cheaper Bridges & Falls cables and contains nitrogen injections that produce air pockets. Because nitrogen (as well as air) does not absorb energy and, as a result, does not release energy from or into the conductor, distortions are prevented
