Caution, not a toy-model articles Wood model kit The cable-drawn trams are one of the landmarks of San Francisco. The first tram of this type took a London 1840 for a short time. Years later, on 2 August 1873 was an Andrew Smith Hallidie on the Clay Street Hill Railroad, the first cable tram in San Francisco. And even today, 136 years later, the typical trams are an inseparable part of the cityscape. The system is based on a continuous cable running under the road by which the cars are pulled at constant speed. The tram is in motion when the so-called cable grip is actuated and clamps the rope. When the voltage decreases and the brakes are applied, the train stops. Today, there are two fleets in operation. A driving along the lines of Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason. The other fleet vehicles driving along the California Street line. These include the No. 60 tram, which we have reproduced in our kit. It was built in 1998 on behalf of the MUNI (San Francisco Municipal Railway) and in 2002 started production. The car is based on the early models of John Hammond & Company in 1906 for the California Street Cable Railroad Company. After the earthquake and fire in April 1906 it was built in the new Hammond workshops as No. 16 and No. 60 in 1957 to the MUNI. 1968-69 it was renewed in Elkton by MUNI, with roof and seats of the moose were used.
