"Vision - From the life of Hildegard von Bingen" is the new film of the great director Margarethe von Trotta ("Die verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum", "Rosenstraße"). The film starts on 24.9. in German cinemas. In the main roles are Barbara Sukowa (as Hildegard), Heino Ferch and Hanna Herzsprung. Hildegard von Bingen is one of the most important and fascinating women's figures of the Middle Ages (approx. 1098-1179). She was an abbess, seer, healer and composer. An exceptionally dedicated, life-oriented woman whose ideas and thoughts are of timeless radiance. For the film, two new CDs appear at Sony Music The original soundtrack (released on 25.9) and the "Best of Hildegard von Bingen" compilation "Visions of Paradise", which comes out a week earlier. "Visions of Paradise - The Music of Hildegard von Bingen" brings together the best recordings of the legendary ensemble Sequentia, which for almost 30 years has been considered the leading ensemble for the interpretation of Hildegard's music and, in general, the music of the Middle Ages. Hildegard's songs are unique musical creations. She herself collectively referred to her songs as "harmonious music of heavenly revelations".
