Mutt Muffs provide passive sound reduction. They are not noise canceling. Your dog will still be able to hear, just not as loudly. They will not eliminate sound. Mutt Muffs are not designed to cure thunderstorm phobia. Most dogs know a storm is coming long before there is any thunder. Their anxiety quite often is not related to sound. Mutt Muffs are designed to prevent hearing damage. Training: We recommend putting the Mutt Muffs on in the loud environment. Most dogs will knock them off within a few minutes because they don't understand why you've done this to them. At which time, you can see the realization in his face. When you put them back on, most dogs "do the math" and realize they choose to wear them for their own comfort. A time or two is usually all it takes.
