Description

180g audiophile vinyl reissue of the Pat Metheny Group's fourth album for ECM. On the live 'Travels', recorded on a 1982 US tour, the scope of Metheny's music was being expanded in two different directions. Increasing use of guitar synthesizer, together with the banks of keyboard synths, suggested futuristic textures. At the same time, Nana Vasconcelos's berimbau and percussion anchored the music in the earth. From here on, Brazilian rhythms would have an increasingly important role to play in Pat's work. Personnel: Pat Metheny (guitars), Lyle Mays (piano, synthesizers, organ, autoharp, synclavier), Steve Rodby (basses), Dan Gottlieb (drums), Nana Vasconcelos (percussion, voice, berimbau)
