The book is an exegesis of a profound episode in the dramatic trajectory of city evolution and the concomitant challenges that come with the process. It brings to the attention of the reader, the fearful trauma behind the face of urban transition. Today, cities are characterized by social, economic and environmental problems owing to the ravages of a urban informality. According to the book, urban informality predisposes cities to a rendezvous of vulnerabilities that emanate from climate change and ecological discrepancy. It seems that, for some time now, the dangers of informality have been understated. For this reason, the book arises to bring full attention of the true picture behind the menacing extremes of informality and how it destroys human life. The endeavor throughout the excursion is to surface what informality does to the marginalized in society and how it paves way for the prevalence of climate change and ecological disturbance while marring spatial beauty, order and environmental sanity. The compilation draws out a typical situation within a developing country -Zambia, to show case how the dynamics of such subtle but real challenges play out in city evolution for most countries. The book has shown that, although in many instances, informality may be inevitable in urban transition, it can well be managed and its negative effects can be mitigated through precipitate methods of planning to remodel city structure and fabric by making them more resilient. In the later chapters, the book offers fresh hope to the existing decadence in many cites of the world by fashioning a new urban design to preserve the livelihoods of the marginalized.
