About the Author Yansui Liu is a fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), professor and Ph.D. supervisor in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), University of CAS. He serves as the director general of Key Laboratory of Regional Sustainable Development Modeling, CAS; the director of Center for Assessment and Research on Targeted Poverty Alleviation, CAS; the chair of International Geographical Union (IGU) Commission on Agricultural Geography and Land Engineering (AGLE); the chair of Alliance of Poverty Reduction and Development (APRD), Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO); an associate editor of Land Use Policy, Economic Geography. He is a specialist of human-economic geography and land sciences, and his major areas of research are urban-rural transformation issues, urbanization and rural revitalization, land engineering and land use policy, human-earth system science and sustainable development.
