About the Author Dr. Prashanth N Suravajhala is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR), Jaipur. Previously, he has obtained a Ph.D. in Systems Biology. He has been involved in various projects specific to immunomodulatory/metabolic diseases and cancer biology. He has identified candidate genes using in silico approaches and provided a standard classification and scoring scheme for characterizing hypothetical proteins in vitro, specifically those that are targeted to mitochondria. More recently, his interests have expanded to transcriptomic profiling, functional proteomics and molecular genetics of cancer/diseasome approaches linked to evolutionary aspects in understanding functional aspects of regulatory genes, epigenomic profiling, miRNAs, and long non-coding RNAs. He is a founder of Bioclues.org, a not-for-profit organization through which he mentors bioinformatics graduates.  .
