She has a PhD in infection biology from the Karolinksa Institute in Sweden, a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Applied Food Microbiology from the University of Botswana, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. During her career, she has authored a number of publications in peer reviewed journals, as well as a book  Infectious Diseases and Rural Livelihood in Developing Countries, which addresses the cycle of poverty, health and livelihood in resource-poor countries.
