Further, it provides a solid foundation for applying scientific approaches to environmental problems.  About the Author Dr. Basharat Mushtaq graduated from Sri Pratap College Srinagar, and received his Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Kashmir Srinagar. Specializing in Aquatic Ecology, he subsequently completed his doctorate in Environmental Science at Barkatullah University Bhopal Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Basharat has worked as a research associate in Environmental Impact Assessment/Environmental Management projects sponsored by various national and international agencies, e.g. the NHPC, WAPCOS, NRSC-ISRO, SDA, PDA, GDA and YDA. He has also worked as a Senior Research Fellow in a major research project on Lake Ecology funded by LAWDA, J & K Govt. Srinagar. He has published many research papers and book chapters in prominent national and international journals. Dr. Basharat has worked as a faculty member at the Cluster University Srinagar, and as a Guest Faculty member at the Central University of Kashmir.
