About the Author <p> </p> <p><img src="" width="100" /></p> <p><strong>Dr Marc Ong Weijie</strong> obtained his medical degree from National University of Singapore in 2010, received his postgraduate Masters of Medicine (Surgery) degree in 2015, exited as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2018 and was accorded Specialist accreditation in General Surgery by the Ministry of Health, Singapore in the same year. He is currently a consultant surgeon in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore, with sub-specialty interests in breast surgery, hernia surgery and trauma surgery. As an appointed clinical senior lecturer at Lee Kong Chian and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, he has a great passion for teaching and is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He has received numerous teaching awards for his contributions to education including the Dean's Honour Roll for Teaching Excellence (National University of Singapore) in 2020 and the Top 10 Teacher Award for Surgical Division (National Health Group). Being taught by many great teachers and mentors that preceded him, he firmly believes in paying it forward to the next generation of surgeons and students alike.</p> <p> </p> <p><img src="" width="100" /></p> <p><strong>Dr Tay Wee Ming</strong> graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2008. He joined the National Healthcare Group (NHG) General Surgery Residency Program and graduated in 2017. He now serves his time as a trauma and acute care surgery consultant in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Wee Ming's passion is in teaching. He is a clinical lecturer for the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He runs multiple courses to train young doctors and residents in open, laparoscopic and trauma surgical skills. In 2015 to 2017, he represented Tan Tock Seng Hospital to set up the Skills in Trauma and Resuscitation (STAR) course in Cambodia to share on our experience in managing trauma patients. He was an invited as a speaker to the World Trauma Congress in 2018 to present on trauma and acute care surgery training. In pursuit of better patient care, Wee Ming is active in quality improvement project and his participation has won him the Outstanding Award in 2016.
