It first revisits Power Transition Theory and particularly some of the key terms and concepts such as degree of satisfaction, then analyzes the differences between the rise of China and that of former emerging powers, and finally argues that the rise of China is historically, culturally, and structurally different. Hence, a peaceful power transition (if any) in the future can only be realized through a successful engagement by the dominant U.S. particularly in international institutions.
