Me llamó la atención al enseñar, y también al escribir, que si se estudia la técnica con seriedad y hondura, más tarde o más temprano se llega inevitablemente a la teoría, y de ahí el título de esta obra, donde interesan, más que la norma, sus fundamentos, su racionalidad. La complejidad de la situación analítica es tal que pocas veces pueden darse reglas fijas. En la praxis analítica, la única receta válida frente a una situa- ción dada es compulsar y contrastar todos los elementos de juicio disponibles y elegir luego el camino que nos parezca más conveniente, sabiendo que cada momento es irrepetible e incomparable. No puede haber, por cierto, una praxis que no se sustente en la teoría, y ningún psicoanalista duda de que entre teoría y práctica hay un camino de ida y vuelta, de que una realimenta, enriquece y depura a la otra; pero yo tengo, además, la viva impresión, aunque tal vez me equivoque, de que si partimos de la práctica podemos abordar mejor los problemas teóricos que cuando estudiamos y comparamos las teorías entre sí. De allí que el libro llegue a la teoría siempre por esa ruta y sin proponérselo. R. Horacio Etchegoyen
