United Nations Environment Programme Global Environment Outlook 5 (GEO-5) : environment for the future we want

GEO, with its thousands of supporting scientists and hundreds of collaborating centres, has over 15 years, built scientific knowledge and provided irrefutable information needed by governments, local authorities, companies and individual citizens. GEO-5 underlines that it is not whether action is needed, but whether world leaders can take up the options outlined here-- and in the supportive analysis of for example the Green Economy --to match the richness of the evidence, the rigor of the science and the inspiring choices so self-evidently available with an equally rich and fundamental response that can begin at Rio+20.
