Dans la région des Grands Lacs, le Burundi, la République démocratique du Congo et le Rwanda ont connu, durant plus de dix années, une succession de conflits meurtriers, de guerres civiles et internationales. La recherche de la paix dans la région n’en est que plus urgente. Sous la direction de membres du consortium d’universitaires belges francophones Grapax (Groupe de recherche en appui aux politiques de coopération – paix, sécurité, droits de l’homme, bonne gouvernance), cet ouvrage réunit les contributions de chercheurs de Belgique et de l’Afrique des Grands Lacs visant à identifier les causes et les dynamiques internes de la conflictualité dans cette région, les défis de la reconstruction et les principaux acteurs extérieurs, gouvernementaux ou non gouvernementaux, impliqués dans la construction de la paix. Fruit d’une collaboration entre la Chaire Bernheim Paix & Citoyenneté de l’ULB, le Centre d’étude des crises et conflits internationaux de l’UCL (CECRI) et le Centre de recherche en science politique des FUSL, cet ouvrage propose une analyse rigoureuse des enjeux contemporains de la guerre et de la paix dans une région clé et contribue à la réflexion des praticiens et des citoyens sur les voies d’une résolution des conflits en Afrique.
