De DSM‑5‑TR is hét standaardwerk voor de classificatie van psychische stoornissen. Het biedt een systematische onderverdeling van de meest voorkomende tot de zeldzaamste stoornissen, met alle bijbehorende criteria. In de klinische praktijk is het een onmisbaar handboek voor onder andere psychiaters, psychologen, (ortho)-pedagogen, professionals in de ggz, (huis)artsen, verpleegkundigen, psychosociaal werkenden, en studenten in opleiding tot deze beroepen. Tegelijk met de Nederlandse vertaling van het Handboek verschijnt een nieuw Beknopt overzicht, beide in twee fraai vormgegeven varianten. Ook de DSM‑5 Online krijgt een update, zodat de meest recente informatie altijd online te vinden is. Belangrijkste wijzigingen • De teksten van meer dan zeventig stoornissen worden aangescherpt en geactualiseerd. • Er komt een nieuwe stoornis: de persisterende-rouwstoornis. • Alle online updates van de DSM‑5 worden meegenomen. • In de volgende secties wordt veel aangepast: prevalentie, risico‑ en prognostische factoren, cultuurgebonden factoren, issues rondom sekse en gender, suïcidale gedachten en suïcidaal gedrag, en comorbiditeit. • Er komen onder andere nieuwe codes voor het rapporteren van suïcidaal gedrag en niet‑suïcidaal zelfbeschadigend gedrag. • De ICD‑9‑CM‑codes worden vervangen door ICD‑10‑codes.
