Industriële productie geeft een grondige en brede inleiding op het multidisciplinaire vakgebied van de productietechniek, dat zich bezighoudt met het voortbrengen van mechanische producten. Het behandelt vormgevings- en bewerkingsprocessen, maar ook fundamentele onderwerpen als materiaal, fabricage, assemblage en productiemachines. Daarnaast is er aandacht voor kwaliteit, kosten, de belangrijkste aspecten van product- en productieontwikkeling, waaronder productiegericht ontwerpen, én van de technische en organisatorische bedrijfsvoering. Deze zesde druk is geheel herzien, geactualiseerd en voorzien van een nieuwe opzet en indeling. Zo is er meer aandacht voor kunststoffen, niet-mechanische bewerkingen en is er een geheel nieuw hoofdstuk toegevoegd over materiaalaangroeitechnieken, waar onder meer 3D-printen in wordt behandeld. Daarnaast kunnen zowel studenten als docenten extra studiemateriaal vinden op de website bij dit boek, zoals extra opgaven en video's. Industriële productie is al jaren een standaardwerk voor studenten werktuigbouwkunde, vliegtuigbouwkunde, industrieel ontwerpen, (technische) bedrijfskunde en verwante studies in het technisch-wetenschappelijk en het hoger beroepsonderwijs. Industriële productie is samengesteld door een redactiecommissie bestaande uit de auteurs prof. dr. ir. H.J.J. Kals, ir. Cs. Buiting-Csikós, prof. dr. ir. W. Dewulf, prof. dr. ir. B. Lauwers, ir. J.M. Ponsen, ir. A.H. Streppel en dr. ir. T.H.J. Vaneker.
