Kinderrevalidatie beweegt! Het boek Kinderrevalidatie beschrijft het complexe werkveld van de kinderrevalidatie, waarin men zich ten doel stelt om het functioneren van kinderen en jongeren met beperkingen in mobiliteit en andere domeinen als gevolg van ziekte of aandoening te optimaliseren. Deze zesde druk van het boek is niet alleen qua inhoud geactualiseerd, maar het boek is nu ook uitgebreid met online leerdoelen en toetsvragen. Het veelgebruikte handboek Kinderrevalidatie is ingebed in de International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health – Children & Youth version (ICF-CY). Het boek expliciteert volgens de classificatie van de ICF-CY de bijdrage van stoornissen in lichaamsfuncties en anatomische eigenschappen, van beperkingen in activiteiten, belemmeringen in participatie, en van externe en persoonlijke factoren in het functioneren van kinderen en jongeren. Daardoor is het gemakkelijker dan voorheen te doorgronden welke mogelijkheden bestaan om kinderen en jongeren binnen de kinderrevalidatie te begeleiden. Het eerste deel van Kinderrevalidatie bespreekt: - algemene aspecten van de kinderrevalidatie, zoals de ICF-CY, veelgebruikte meetinstrumenten, het gezin en hulpmiddelen. - belangrijke lichaamsfuncties, zoals het bewegingssysteem, sensorische en cognitieve functies; - belangrijke activiteiten, zoals mobiliteit, zelfverzorging, leren en toepassen van kennis en communicatie. - belangrijke domeinen van participatie: scholing en arbeid, en sport. - de overgang naar de volwassenheid. In het tweede deel komen specifieke diagnosegroepen aan de orde, zoals cerebrale parese, niet-aangeboren hersenletsel, neuromusculaire aandoeningen en spina bifida. Ieder hoofdstuk bevat een systematische bespreking aan de hand van de ICF-CY. Naast het klinische beeld beschrijft elk hoofdstuk drie aspecten van de diagnosegroep: de gevolgen van de aandoening voor het functioneren, de diagnostiek, en de behandeling en begeleiding. Dit boek is bij uitstek geschikt voor medici, paramedici en gedragsdeskundigen werkzaam in de kinderrevalidatie, voor jongeren en jongvolwassenen met een lichamelijke aandoening en hun ouders, en voor professionals werkzaam in het onderwijs.
