Description

Black Neo-Victoriana is the first book-length study on contemporary re-imaginations of Blackness in the long nineteenth century. Contributions engage with novels, drama, film, television and material culture, while also covering cultural formations such as Black fandom, Black dandyism, or steamfunk. About the Author Felipe Espinoza Garrido, Ph.D. (2019), is Assistant Professor in English, Postcolonial and Media Studies at the University of Münster. He has published in popular culture and postcolonial studies, foremost international film and television studies and (neo-)Victorian popular literature. Marlena Tronicke, Ph.D. (2017), is Assistant Professor of British literary and cultural studies at the University of Münster. She is the author of Shakespeare’s Suicides: Dead Bodies That Matter (2018) and has also published on contemporary drama and neo-Victorian literature. Julian Wacker is Lecturer for English, Postcolonial, and Media Studies at the University of Münster. His Ph.D. thesis examines how Black British music videos re-imagine the neoliberal city. He has published on British grime music, Black popular culture, and Teju Cole.
