Description
Product Description Neil Murphy considers the role the French ceremonial entry played in the negotiation between urban elites and the Valois monarchy for rights and liberties. Drawing on extensive research, he shows that ceremonial entries lay at the heart of how the state functioned in later medieval and Renaissance France. About the Author Neil Murphy (Ph.D University of Glasgow) is Senior Lecturer in Early Modern European History at the University of Northumbria. His principal interests lie in the history of France from c.1330 to c.1580. He has published widely in a range of leading journals and has a book forthcoming on the captivity of John II (1356-60).
