Product Description From Constantinople to the Frontier: The City and the Cities provides twenty-five articles addressing the concept of centres and peripheries in the late antique and Byzantine worlds, focusing on urban aspects of this paradigm between the fourth and thirteenth centuries. About the Author Nicholas S.M. Matheou is a D.Phil. candidate in Oriental Studies at Pembroke College, Oxford, with the thesis title Aristakes of Lastivert's History in Context: Armenia and New Rome in the Era of the Seljuq Invasions. He is co-convener of The Oxford Research Centre for the Humanities research network on the long history of identity, ethnicity and nationhood. Theofili Kampianaki is a D.Phil. candidate at Wolfson College, Oxford. Her doctoral thesis is entitled John Zonaras' Epitome of Histories: A Compendium of Jewish-Roman History and Its Readers. Theofili holds an undergraduate degree in Greek Philology from the University of Athens, and an M.St. in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies from the University of Oxford. Lorenzo M. Bondioli is a Ph.D. candidate at Princeton University. He obtained his B.A. in History at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and also graduated from the School of Archival Studies, Paleography and Diplomatics of the State Archives of Rome, thereafter completing an M.Phil. in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at Balliol College, Oxford. He is currently participating in the Framing the Late Antique and Early Medieval Economy international project.
