(…) Each one of the 100 chapters features a description of the discussed object, a one through five star rating of its historical relevance, the technical information, several pictures showing both the exterior and interior of the timepiece, and in some cases the reproductions of ads, booklets or user manuals. (…) The Appendixes section includes an “esoteric” selection of unusual or unique pieces, a number of presentation boxes that are attractive collecting items in themselves, the fictional story of a watch featured earlier on in the book, the account of how the purchase of an old military timepiece inspired the historical novel Wingwatch, and a bibliography listing the paper sources consulted. About the author. Marco Strazzi also published Watch Ads 1900-1959, Watch Ads 1960-2000 (a pictorial history of communicazion and design in 20th Century watchmaking), Rolex 1905-1960 (the first half-century of the brand) and the novel Wingwatch, partly based on a true WW2 story.
