Italian description: Il libro ripercorre i primi 100 anni della Fabbrica di Doccia dalla sua fondazione nel 1737 da parte del marchese Carlo Ginori fino alla morte del nipote Carlo Leopoldo Ginori Lisci, avvenuta nel 1837. Lo studio è fondato in larga parte sulle fonti documentarie, sviluppandosi sulle parole dei principali protagonisti di questa iniziativa artistico-industriale - il marchese Carlo e i due successivi proprietari, Lorenzo Ginori e Carlo Leopoldo Ginori Lisci -, sugli elementi chiave nei vari settori dall'analisi dei comparti della scultura e delle decorazioni pittoriche (comprensive delle galanterie, sia per la maiolica che per la porcellana) all'approfondimento delle questioni di approvvigionamento di materiali. Conclude il volume un approfondimento sui materiali, sugli impasti, sugli smalti e sui colori utilizzati dalla Manifattura Ginori: idee e ripetute prove che hanno consentito di raggiungere in tempi relativamente brevi risultati tecnici apprezzabili e in parte unici. Tutti elementi che hanno permesso a un imprenditore illuminato e sicuramente ante litteram di dar vita a questa stupefacente esperienza che fino ad oggi, pur tra mille difficoltà, ancora resiste.
